The PAMANA-dominated College of Technology (COT) is going to witness how seven students under the same party, three of which are incumbent officers, shall vie for the seats in the student council to continue the legacy that their predecessors have started.

COT PAMANA’s candidates Samantha Capistrano and John Joseph Ong, who are striving for the positions of president and vice president respectively, discussed their plan to preserve what the present council has contributed to the college and likewise introduce fresh services.

This includes the “open-mic session,” wherein representatives from the admin and the students of their college would gather to hear the latter’s grievances, suggestions, and comments regarding the welfare of the student body; the student personality development seminars; and the Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA), an event that is popular among the students of COT.

Student participation is the main issue that the current line-up would like to address this year. According to Ong, the COT students are known to be too attentive on their studies that they often ignore the events that the council or the other COT-based organizations hold. Moreover, students are usually asking for incentives for attending events. As a solution, Capistrano stated that, “right now, we are preparing ourselves to be more encouraging sa mga students.”

The two were also asked about the importance of campus press in the university. Capistrano answered that it is important and explained that, “‘yung campus press p,o sila po ‘yung intermediary between admin and kung ano man po ‘yung nangyaring campus issue para sa students po. It is their right since we are all stakeholders here sa LPU.

Furthermore, the two candidates stated that the balance among their candidates is considered as their strength. Elaborately, Ong said that their platforms will be beneficial for the whole COT.

“There is a representative to the courses. Kung ano ‘yung gusto nila, ‘yun yung sasabihin nila,” he explained.
